The majoriaty of the old boys are former students of the Manchester Metropolitan University Canoe Club who enjoy paddlesport and the outdoor life.

Our club is NOT exclusive to those who are expert but we recommend that they have most of their kit and are competent paddlers (min of 2** standard). We pride ourselves on helping new people in to paddlesport and helping the various university canoe clubs, of which many have never been in a boat before. We like to make people feel welcome, whatever their experience, and ensure everyone gets top quality instruction and guidance. Any one is welcome as long as their water confident.

Safety and informal learning is a vital part of our existence, the club has qualified instructors and top paddlers available who have travelled all over the world. The instructors, which are qualified, and previousley registered with a National Governing Body, the British Canoe Union work to current guidelines and can assist weither in the pool, on a river out to sea working with the club, and AU.

The old boys (and girls) always try and run a summer trip as a main focus, this can be from paddling in New England region of the USA to play boating in Portogal. In previous years we have travelled through out Europe, heading out to Spain, France, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. Also people who have met through the paddling with each other have travelled the world to destinations such as America, Canada, Costa Rica and New Zealand. The world is your oyster, and paddling in places you would never see otherwise is the best feeling in the world.

At MMU "old boys (inc girls)", paddling is our main focus, but we also like to do many other social activities to keep the excitement going when the paddling is not! Past activities such as paint balling, bowling, drinking (obviously), curry night and nights at the dogs have all been a success.

We have no plans to do any form of competions, but in the past we have entered several from free style open boating world championships to the BUSA competitions for polo and slalom. Polo is one of the fastest up and coming sports around. Great to watch great to play. Its physical and a chance to burn aggression and energy.

Please feel free to contact us if you wish to come out and play or have any other queries, look around the site, take a look at our picture gallery and forum.
